ChildGICR CHILDHOOD CANCER REGISTRATION ONLINE COURSE

Dear collleagues,

BVK - Vietnam National Cancer Institute (VNCI) in collaboration with the International Agency for Research on Cancer (IARC) and the St Jude Children’s Research Hospital (SJCRH) are pleased to announce the regional ChildGICR course on Childhood Cancer Registration. Faculty will be comprised of Vietnam and international experts in cancer registration and paediatric oncologists.

The course is intended for up to 30 participants. Health professionals from Vietnam, Brunei, Cambodia, Indonesia, Laos, Malaysia, Myanmar, the Philippines, Singapore, Thailand are invited to apply. Priority will be given to applicants involved in establishing or strengthening population-based cancer registration of childhood cancer in these countries.

The course will focus on the fundamentals of childhood cancer population-based registration. Upon completion, participants will be able to:

• Define the principles of population-based cancer registration and illustrate the specifics of registration of childhood cancer
• Describe childhood cancer burden and identify the key sources of information
• Understand and apply principles and application of classification and staging of childhood cancers
• Explain how collected data are validated, analysed and used
• Access support networks of colleagues and contribute to their development

The training will be offered as an online course and there is no registration fee. The course will be delivered in five 3.5-hour online sessions from 1:30 pm to 5:00 pm (Indochina Time) on 5-9 September 2022.
